The concept was born in Los Angeles in 2017 by a small group of friends who share a great passion for independent cinema and a greater history of rejection from the magical world of the moving image industry.

With the unique opportunity to create our very own salon des refuse Nòt Film Fest was born. NÓT in the local Romagnolo dialect means "Night", but is the English word "Not" that defines our way of celebrating films.

A platform for independent filmmakers powered by a community based movement that aim to give a voice to the most unique and innovative to #makecinemaindieagain.

is one of the leading international indie film festivals in Italy.

Nòt is held yearly in Santarcangelo di Romagna, a dreamy city nested in the most romantic Italian countryside.

The next edition of the festival will be from August 22~27 2023

Nòt Film Fest is dedicated to great independent films and creating opportunities for their filmmakers. An open air film festival offering a unique festival experience that is more than just outdoor movies.

Our mission has been honored throughout the festival's past editions, held in Santarcangelo di Romagna (Italy), a small village nested in the hills by the Adriatic coast near Federico Fellini’s hometown Rimini , where up-and-coming writers, directors and producers, alongside seasoned veterans and film lovers, converge for the weeklong celebration of independent cinema, making Nòt a great place to find the next, great, visionary films.

In the commitment to create real opportunities for our filmmakers and launch their career we created several partnerships to offer special awards, free education, distribution opportunities as well as daily networking events to connect in a friendly and informal environment.

Among our judges and guests Gabriela Rodriguez producer of Alfonso Cuaron's "Roma”, Peter Baxter founder of Slamdance, Theo Green Oscar Winner sound designer of “Dune”.
